Mantelpiece

The ceremonial shelf of the room: part architecture, part altar, part styling opportunity.

The definition

What is Mantelpiece?

A mantelpiece is the shelf or surround above a fireplace, traditionally used as a focal point in living rooms and drawing rooms.

The Westloft perspective

In the World of Westloft

For Westloft, the mantelpiece is where a room declares itself: candles, flowers, a framed photograph, a small object with a long story and perhaps one thing deliberately off-centre.
