How to Choose Photography Prints

Photographic art can feel cinematic, documentary, editorial or highly minimal depending on the subject and composition. Portrait photography creates a strong human focal point, architectural images introduce structure and geometry, while landscapes and travel photography can add atmosphere and a sense of distance. For a more restrained direction, explore our black and white wall art, or browse portrait art prints for more figurative photography and character-led imagery.

Scale can make a major difference with photographic artwork. A single large photograph can create the feeling of a gallery piece above a sofa, bed or sideboard, while smaller images work well in pairs, grids and more eclectic gallery walls. Mixing photography with abstract art, typography or illustration can create a more layered collection, while grouping photographs with a similar tone or subject gives the wall a cleaner, more cohesive look.

Framing should support the mood of the image rather than compete with it. Black frames work particularly well with monochrome photography, fashion imagery and architectural subjects, while natural wood can soften landscapes, travel photography and warmer compositions. Dark wood or gold can give vintage-inspired or more atmospheric photography additional richness. For a destination-led scheme, combine photographic pieces with travel art prints or architectural artwork to build a stronger sense of place.
