How to Choose Metallic Art Prints

Metallic wall art works best when the reflective or metallic-effect details complement the materials already present in the room. Gold and bronze tones can add warmth and sit particularly well with dark woods, velvet and richer colour palettes, while silver and cooler metallic finishes tend to suit cleaner, more contemporary interiors. For a stronger visual contrast, combine metallic artwork with black and white wall art or abstract wall art.

Think about where the artwork will catch the light. Metallic details can become more noticeable near windows, lamps and other light sources, making them useful for creating depth on otherwise flat walls. A larger statement piece can work well above a sofa, console or bed, while smaller metallic prints can be introduced into a gallery wall to break up matte photography, typography and illustration.

Framing can either reinforce the metallic finish or provide contrast. Black frames give gold and silver details a sharper, more contemporary edge, while dark wood can create a richer and more traditional feel. Gold frames can work well when used selectively, especially with more decorative artwork, but keeping some surrounding elements quieter will prevent the scheme from becoming overly ornate. For a more layered look, combine metallic pieces with eclectic wall art and artwork in softer, non-reflective finishes.
