The Grand Tour

The historic tradition of travelling in search of art, beauty and culture, and bringing those experiences home.

The definition

What is The Grand Tour?

Originally undertaken by young European aristocrats during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Grand Tour was a journey through cities such as Paris, Florence, Venice and Rome. More than a holiday, it was considered an education in architecture, art, food and refined living. Travellers returned with paintings, books, antiques and memories that shaped their homes and tastes.

The Westloft perspective

In the World of Westloft

At Westloft, the Grand Tour is less about status and more about curiosity. It is the belief that a well-lived life is enriched by travel, beautiful objects and experiences that leave a lasting impression. A hand-painted ceramic from Sicily, an old photograph discovered in Paris, a hotel bar in Milan, or a favourite candle scent that recalls a summer evening in the Mediterranean — these become part of the atmosphere of home.

The Grand Tour reminds us that interiors should tell stories. Rooms become collections of memories rather than displays of perfection.
